Subject:   westy to Baja
Content-Type:   text/plain; charset=us-ascii

We are taking our first trip to Baja at the end of the month. We have been researching this but still need answers to a few questions. We know that propane is available but can anyone confirm that the filling stations will be able to fill a Westy propane tank. Will we need any kind of an adaptor?

We plan to buy our insurance at Discover Baja Travel Club in San Diego because it is supposed to be easy to access off the I5. Is it also easy to get lost? We will have to get accident and liability as our BC insurance is no good out of Canada. Any comments?

We hope to get all the way to Cabo spending about four weeks in Baja and two driving down the coast from Port Angeles and up the I5 through Seattle. The books we consulted recommended carrying a tow rope and 5 gallons of gas. Is this still a good idea? Where is the best place to carry gas outside on a Vanagon?

Thanks to Mark Drillock we have confirmed that ATMachines are frequent and credit cards useable as far as Guerro Negro. Are they also frequent between Guerro Negro and Cabo?

Many thanks for your input
