Steve, The figures they are giving you are a little vague. You did 51MB over what time period a day - meaning 1.5GB on a month? What you are looking for is a company that will not give a rats kazoo about how many visitors or how many pages you have but how much traffic you draw. I have VOLKSWAGEN.ORG / TRANSPORTER.CA / ILTIS.CA / FASTFORWARD.CA sitting on my own personal server on the end of a T1 circuit (downloads are aprox 100 to 130 kb/s). I get one GB of traffic a month for free and after that is costs something like $50 CAD a GB - the thing is I usually do between 2.3 to 2.5 GB per month (high and low over the past three) and there is a LOT of bandwidth sucking stuff at VOLKSWAGEN.ORG - mainly in the multimedia section where I have a lot of commercials! Without the commercials it would be pretty limited usage. What is so "intense" about SYNCRO.ORG that is taking all the bandwidth? I think 3000 hits a day must mean 3000 requests per day - really hard to say. Ask them for the log so you can verify it yourself. I use a program called ANALOG which does some really neat stuff! Where do I get my bandwidth from? A company called ABC Communications here in Quesnel - the catch is I used to work for them so I get to park my own server there in exchange for some consulting work otherwise it would cost me a lot more. If you want to visit their site it is http://www.abccom.bc.ca - they are offering 1Mb/s wireless internet for $89.95 CAD a month with 4 static IP addresses and 1GB of traffic a month - pretty good rate for the do-it-yourself web server person. I will be moving to this in the next month or so.

The web police have caught up with me. This is the third warning in a 2 weeks. They say over 3000 hits a day, but that seems impossible, and 700 pages? What does that mean?

Any ideas on where i could park syncro.org with lots of space and low cost? Thanks steve

Dear Concentric Network Member: A review of your web site's bandwidth use indicates usage beyond that offered under our Standard Connection Plan. Your statistics for the previous 24 hours are as follows:

Pages: 731 Hits: 3167 Bandwidth (K): 51755

Bandwidth levels allowed under the Standard Connection Plan are 50,000 K per day. Please adjust the configuration of your web site to meet this limit as soon as possible. Prolonged consumption of excessive bandwidth may lead to suspension of your web site.

Definition of terms used in our report and suggestions for reducing bandwidth usage are included below.

If you are not able to follow any of these suggestions, you may want to consider one of our three ConcentricHost Accounts. These accounts allow between 300 - 1000 MB bandwidth per month, and additional bandwidth may be purchased for an added monthly charge.
