I am thinking about it.

What I am still not sure of is:

1. Whether one or the other of the wheels is stronger or if I need to check the load rating on these wheels as well. Are you all in the habit of buying wheels without knowing how strong they are or what thier load rating is? I am an overloader and a basher, so the issue is material to me.

2. I am wondering whether ET 30 is right for me. I know it is a good ET spec, but with super oversize tires that I am likely to run, I am thinking that ET26 or so might be a better bet to clear the battery box. I know some factory Vanagon tires, I thought, had ET23. (reference Michael Sullivan's drawing at http://www.hsdesign.com/vanagon/Vanagon_tire_section.gif). An ET23 would certainly push the rubber away from the suspension components and minimize entanglements for those of us mounting very large tires so it might be a better bet than ET30. I know that some who have mounted larger tires say these larger tires hit the suspension so I would like to stay away from that. I know some of the Europeans are mounting ET25s.

3. If I require a 16" wheel, then I would not want to buy these 15" wheels. I might settle on 30" tall tires but it would break my heart to do so. I am really more interested in the 31.5" tall tires or 32" tall. I need to confirm that you can find 31.5" tall rubber for a 15" wheel and that such rubber does not require a 16" wheel.

Any thoughts or special knowledge on these issues listers?

At 06:15 PM 1/11/01 -0500, you wrote:

Derek,
Why don't you get these wheels.
