Subject: Re: fuel line replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

I recently did this on my 85 GL.

I ordered Ken's Vanagain fuel hose kit. It contains enough hose to do the engine compartment, plus enough left over to do the small odds and ends like the fuel pump and filter pieces. The kit does not contain the plastic hoses that go to and from the fuel tank, underneath the van.

The kit also contains some really nice clamps, and instructions.

It took me probably 4 hours to do mine. ( I like to enjoy the job.) I was very careful taking the old fuel line off the fragile old plastic pieces, like the fuel rails.

I replaced the injector seals when I did mine. I didn't have any manifold leaks or anything else, so I left well enough alone.

One strange thing, I found somebody had taken pliers and really did damage to the plastic fuel line that retuns to the fuel tank. They had just crushed the line all over a 6 inch section? It was at the start of the return line so I just cut it off. Someone trying to cure a fuel pressure problem? or a disgruntled mechanic? Surprisingly the plastic fuel line did not leak even after that trauma.....
