He just changed it.

It is now dhaynes@optonline.net.

By the way folks, Dennis is one of the most knowledgable Vanagon mechanics in the USA and probably one of the 5 most knowledgeable people on this list in terms of actually *doing* the work!

What distinguishes him is his creativity. This is particularly useful for difficult diagnostic problems. The worse the problem, the more Dennis seems interested in solving it! Also, his ability and willingness to do custom work is really something. He just installed a gasoline powered coolant heater in my syster's Syncro Westfailia, for example, creating a custom mounting position in the engine compartment. He also installed oil pressure and temp gages in my syncro along with a preluber, and makes the custom Class III trailer hitch for Vanagons as well as custom mounts for syncro anti sway bar. When I asked him to make up a special trailer hitch for severe off road conditions, he said "No Sweat" and make one up for me. The list of things he has done like this is so long it boggles the mind.

Anybody who lives on Long Island, New York, and probably New York City, for that matter, should consider bringing their vans to Dennis for all their repairs. BEG if you have to. I advise people to just get him to agree to let them park their vans there and don't ask about the price too much. Also anyone within 500 miles should consider using Dennis for transmission work. On the east coast, he is the man. He has done dozens of syncro transmissions that I know about personally. His prices for transmission work are lower too.

Dennis' presence on the list is totally muted compared to his actual ability.
