Dear Vanagon list members,

Once in awhile someone provides a great service - such news should be passed on.

The locks on my '84 Vanagon GL have been operating progressively worse over the past few years. The passenger door lock and rear hatch lock were inoperable; the ignition lock was often balky. To make matters worse, I had lost the original key, so I only had worn out copies to jiggle with. Steve Sandlin, who owns Steve's Lock Shoppe in Huntsville, TX, cut me a new key from the lock code. He also gave me some helpful suggestions for cleaning the locks. The new key works perfectly; no more balky, sticky locks. Every lock works now!

I'm ordering a couple more keys from Steve, who also carries the original VW steel keys at a very reasonable price. Steve is already listed as a vendor at the vanagon.com site, but I just had to broadcast a good word.

Happy in Alabama,

John Hung '84 GL (fishing poles now locked!)
