Keith and all,

This is one thing I have to agree with Keith on. VW has all but left behind their original "Peoples Car" affiliation and moved on to the glitz of status symbol. They no longer sell affordability and practicality. They've pretty much succumbed to the market share mentality that so many other companies have sold out to. I think it's to bad that the old practical ideas have gone by the wayside for cheap meaningless gratification gimmicks e.g. built in T.V.'s, excess moldings for beautification etc. which bloat the price of vehicles beyond any reasonable means. The utilitarian side of me protests that there should be another option for those of us with lesser incomes. But, I guess that's too much to ask for....

Off of the soapbox for now...
