Subject: Coolant Temp/Coolant Level LED and Flashing Oil LED - Instrument
Cluster Upgrade... Advice required on continuous flashing Coolant
              LED.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi,

I'm currently swapping an Instrument Cluster from a Large Clock model to a Tacho with Digital Clock model on my 89 Caravelle GL (Vanagon).

I purchase the unit (tacho, etc) from the US around 2 months ago, it looks as though it has come from an 84/85. I have spent the last two weeks re-building and refurbishing the surfaces to restore them to new again. It has come up extremely well.

A number of Gerry List Members forwarded me the wiring diagrams to check for any variations and it was a perfect match. Folks, thanks for your assistance.

All the gauges work ok along with the lighting, etc.

However, I've come up against my first snag.

1. The flashing LED for the Coolant Temp/Coolant Level LED doesn't want to go out, it keeps on flashing. Yes I have checked it on the original dash and it works according to the normal routine, and the coolant levels are also ok.

Any Suggestions????

2. My current Oil LED Flashes while awaiting for Oil pressure and the one on the replacement cluster does not flash, it has a constant glow until the engine has oil pressure. Would this be because of the age of the LED used on previous models?

Suggestion????

TIA
