Jacob's just discontinued this product due to lack of demand. They informed me that you can get this cable from most welding supply stores.

zoran, this sounds exactly like what i'm after. i remember that ken wilford had stock cables last year but this is an improvement. was there any mention of cost in the ad?

i've often wondered why the battery is so far away from the motor compared to the old type 2's. with winter temps dropping down to -30C overnight, any help is welcome. Vw clearly didn't design this vehicle with winter driving in mind.
