Subject:      Correct coil for  '87 Vanagon 2.1L.?

Listvolk: I recently purchased an ignition coil for
Van O'White. It has the correct catalog # on box, but
no # on coil itself.
It is RED and says Escondido on it-no sticker or paper
label on it. Needless to say, it does not resemble my
current coil (which is dirty and black).
Any reassurance or constructive negativity before I
hassle the long-suffering listvendor? TIA George de
Grande Rapids.
