Subject: 85 Vanagon Purchase
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello everyone! I am a newbie to the world of VW Vanagons. I recently acquired a 1985 Vanagon with a mark7? interior. Does anyone else have this kind of interior? I purchased it from a gentleman in south east Baltimore. The guy was really cool about showing me the van throughly and explained to me some of the problems some people have with there wasser-boxer engines. Anyway, I purchased it last week and its being delivered here (Delaware) this week. I just wanted to know if there were any other members of this list that are located in Northern Delaware that I can correspond with. I'm planning on doing an engine rebuild myself and just cleaning this bad boy up. I use to work for Horst Fischer Auto in Stanton DE (about 8 years ago/for a short time until he flipped out on me) and gained allot of knowledge and experience on air cooled boxers. I've never cracked a case open though. Are there any faults (ignition, suspension, brakes) in particular about this make/model other than the heads leaking that I should know about? Well, I've yammered enough. thanks for your time, tom
