Hi all, Well! Re. to my posting yesterday about my van running extremely rich and getting about 2MPG, it turns out the culprit was ....... the Temp II sensor. Surprise!! 8-). It cost £20 ($28) to get the 40 miles in and out of work yesterday. I got home late last night & at about 1AM got down to work. I found a Temp II sensor lying around in my toolbox - a leftover from my bucking/idling problems of two years ago. Pulled the old sensor (lost a bit of coolant) and popped in the 'new' one! Woohoo - fiiixed!! Anyways - the strange bit. The Temp 2 sensor that was in there was a new one, datestamped 10/98 and had an alloy body. The one I replaced it with was the original, dated 7/87 and had a copper body. The dud sensor made a 'thwong' noise when I tapped it. Sounds like the thermistor has un-bonded itself from the body of the sensor. So all's well again. Thanks to David Beierl for the spot-on advice!
