Hi Bob, Check the fuel pressure it should be 30 psi normal and 36 under load. Check the pressure in the condition where you are loosing power. You could just change the fuel filter, but a gauge will tell you what you need to know. Most flaps will have an inexpensive gauge you can hook up to the fuel ring for a temporary test, it needs a 7 mm hose. I have one hooked up on my van and bus that reads oil or fuel pressure on the oil pressure gauge on my dash. Check loam.org/vw Darrell
