Yes, unless the relay is faulty...then it pumps no fuel... The problem with this is that the fuel acts as a coolant for the pump as it pumps. If there is no fuel to pump, the pump will overheat and burn out. Er...the pump runs continuously the whole time the engine is running, what makes you think it will have a problem when the engine isn't running? The system shuts it off when the motor stops so that you don't pump fifteen gallons of fuel through a busted fuel hose or an accident site. david
