yeah... more on oahu than here on the big island. there are a few, but apparently people here aren't too obsessed with them like some of you (read us). My mechanic says most people that own them here just us them for transportation. Imagine that. Always seemed like the perfect hawaii car to me... I've had four buses now... three vanagons... but in 1994, I watched a cherry 90 syncro westy with only 54K on the ticker sit on a car lot for THREE MONTHS... nobody ever bought it. And it was reasonably priced. I'd have bought it in a heartbeat, but I had just leased a Jeep and couldn't get out of it without losing my shirt so I had to passed. It almost killed me. Finally some guy at the lot took it to Kona and then I guess shipped it away, cuz I've never seen it again. They just don't understand vanagons here. I've been on the list for about eight months now and I only know about a half dozen people from Hawaii on the list. Weird, eh? Lotta folks here are into custom bugs and type II's. But vanagons, and especially syncro vanagons are not real big.
