dont forget about the "mouthpieces" too...these days protection is a must... ummm what were we talking about? ;<)

as far as auto vs manual, 2 of the 4 manual tranny vanagons i've owned have developed the notorious "3-4 gear slider hub crack" necessitating full rebuilds, wheras i havent had any trouble w/ the auto trannies.
