Subject: Seeking Good Vanagon Shop in Seattle
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Hello,

I have been off the list for some time, but I have a 1991 Westy Syncro (53,000 miles) and for its 10th Birthday it has developed a drip. It manifests itself on the passenger side near the engine mount cross-bar. It's green and smells like death.

Since my skills as a mechanic are best suited for sabotage, I am seeking a Vanagon mechanic in the Seattle area that has a good reputation. I am of the ilk that would like my van repaired completely the first time and am not too worried about cost. (This is my vanagon we're talking about.)

I'd go to a dealer but my last 5 experiences (did I mention I'm a slow learner) with Carter VW in Ballard have resulted in them replacing several parts lost and/or broken. This list includes my Yakima bike rack, the center pieces to my alloys, a helicoil for my oil drain, 5 lug nuts and a map pocket. If I was a lawyer and wanted my van rebuilt piece by piece I would just keep calling them.

Thanks for your time.

robyn

Seattle
