I thought a 2.5 volt drop across the starter cable sounded unbelievable so I measured it. I used my Fluke model 12 which has the ability to record maximum and minimum voltages. I connected it across the starter cable and cranked a very cold engine. I recorded only .220 volts. This was on my 1986 WBX.
