Remember, the Bentley manual was written 10 years ago and is not updated to reflect superceded parts. While John's response may still apply to coils supplied by the VW dealer (which are made by Bosch but distributed under VW's numbering system), it may not apply to coils distributed by Bosch directly to retailers other than VW dealers. The superceded "short" Bosch part number for this coil is now 00061 (which crosses to the long Bosch number noted above). Also, current production may be black or red (depending on which Bosch factory it originated from), and will not neccessarily have a green label.
