Rocky Mountain Motorworks sells a 'swamp cooler' for old Beetles. It mounts on the outside of the passenger side window and looks a little like a torpedo tube from an old WW2 destroyer. They have 2 kinds- one that works on wind power (how fast you can drive) the other on 12 volt cig liter. Price is $450-$600.

Pensioner- let me know what you find out- I'm gonna need to cool my Vanagon down this summer in the desert. Thanks.
