I have an '83 ASI diesel camper. I think it compares very well to the Westfalia (I have one of them, too). I had the PO demonstrate the use of all of the camper equipment when I went to pick up the van.

One of the nicer feature of the ASI, at least in 1983, is the refrigerator. It is a Dometic RM215, slightly larger than the Westy fridge. It is a dual mode unit, operating only on propane and 12v DC. Because of this, the ASI van has a power inverter just in front of the rear seat. Even in Arizona desert heat, the fridge does a good job keeping food cold on 12v power. Instructions for my fridge are on a pull-out metal plate at just below the door.

My van has a manual pump for the sink water faucet, but there is an electric pump mounted to the floor behind the refrigerator that is not connected to any power source.

I do not have air conditioning.

There are some other people on the list with ASI vans, but I don't know of anyone who has any of the operator's manuals for the camper equipment. Perhaps the owners of this van were kind enough to preserve them.

Does anyone have one of these?

I have my eye on one, and would like to know what it is worth. Seems to be pretty solid, what should I look for in regards to the camper type components working?

It has some sort of thermostat on the wall in the back and Behr A/c...

Any info on how to see if this stuff works would be appreciated......
