Subject: Sound Insulation pregress report & question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello all,

Well, I managed to remove most of the interior of the westy in the last couple of days (boy is it vile under there). I got out everything except for the fridge/sink/stove cabinet (pending question). A note for westy owners, there is insulation in the wall (however minimal), but no moisture seal. If condensation builds up inside, you're going to get water absorbed by the insulation which could lead to rust from the inside out. This is more work than I suspect, so far, but it'll be so worth it when I'm done. Just cleaning under the furniture and back seat has made it worth my time.

So here's the problem. Apparently, my propane tank off valve doesn't function. I turn it off, and the gas stays on. Yes, I wait to see if the gas in the lines burns out, but I had the stove going on both burners for 6 hours today (with the valve in the off position) and it's still going. Questions:

1) How much gas (in hours) does the tank hold. I need to empty it before I can undo the lines to remove the final cabinet.

2) Is replacing the valve a do-it-yourself, or do I need to take it to a propane place?

3) Has anyone ever put in a gauge of some sort to let you know how much propane you have left? Is this a feasible project? (that was two questions)

4) Is there a quicker way to empty the tank without having to burn all the gas off via stove?

Thanks all. More progress reports to come...

leaf~
