Hi all,

     Well, am I in trouble or wha'?? Was driving home from the store
today when I suddenly lost a lot of power. The van wouldn't run right
at all. Managed to limp the mile or two back home at 30mph.

     Got home & took a look. The exhaust is coated in soot (a lot of
soot!). All plugs are carbon fouled and when the engine is running,
I get huge gobs of black/grey smoke from the tailpipe. Checking the
rotor arm, I noticed it was quite burned, especially at the middle
of its contact edge. Hmmm.

     So, the van is running rich in a very big way. This only seems to
happen when I get up to temperature. When hot, the van won't idle
properly  & tends to cut out at idle. The exhaust is loud and 'farty'
- another rich sign & I can't get over 3000 revs while under load.
The engine misfires a bit when cruising - cruising at 40mph, that is!

     I pulled the 02 sensor to get the engine to run open-loop. Still
no difference. I pulled the air filter just in case. No change. The
AFM is relatively new - about 30K old. I had the VW 'bucking mod'
fitted which I also removed just in case.

     Right now, I'm thinking the Temp 2 sensor is gone. Will this cause
this problem, even if the O2 sensor is disconnected? I'm posting this
from work - took me about an hour to get the 20 miles in.

     Helllp!! 8-( Any ideas?
