Subject: rusty engine compartment, no splash shields?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hello, I'm extremely green regarding vanagons and I checked archive but couldn't find answer to my question so here it is. Do or did water-cooled vanagons have any sort of engine compartment tin? I know that they don't need the tin due to being watercooled but I looked at a vanagon today and the engine comparment was extremely rusty the motor was just rusted. It ran fine but looked terrible. I was thinking that if you put some tin back there to be used as sort of a splash shied that it would reduce some of the rust. By the way the rest of the body was in great shape with on a few spots of surface rust. Marcus
