You may want to use one of these fast hardening glues, one of those that harden in less than a minute. Apply glue to one or both surfaces of the broken key (depending on how your brand of glue should be used), at the same time making sure to not glueing the key to the gas cap. Put the key parts together the right way, hold for a minute or so with as little moving as possible, then try to pull the key. Did work for me once.
