The O2 sensor has absolutely nothing to do with starting. In addition to the wire, cap and rotor, make sure the top of the ignition coil is clean and not cracked. Road dirt likes to accumulate there and short the spark to one of the terminals when the dirt is damp. Dennis

John; The next time it won't start I would unplug the O2 sensor. A long shot but it is easy. Typically these problems are associated with ignition/spark malfunction. Look at the spark plug wires in the dark to see if they are arching over. Don't forget the distributor cap as a suspect.
