A standard garage door opening is 7 feet high. The thing to look at is the garage door itself, the older one piece pivoting doors take up about 6" of doorway when they are open. The newer sectional roll-up doors can be adjusted to go above the door opening. I had mine adjusted that way when I had my new door installed. Mine just fits in as long as I remember to close the roof vent.
