While I agree with Matthew Pollard that there is relaxation in cruising along at slower speeds in the van, especially in two lane roads off the beaten path, my '84, 174k miles, will cruise just fine on the interstate at 75. Now it does slow down quite a bit on the long climbs in the mountains of western Maryland, West Virginia, and central Pennsylvania, but for regular roads, it will still do this just fine for hours with the needle sitting to the left of the light the whole time. About 19 mpg, slow down and drive with Matthew and it climbs on up to about 22-24, depending on how relaxed you let it roll. Knock on wood.
