Yes, you can install a locking diff. I've confirmed this with several sources including Daryl @ AA transaxle. You will need the trans. housing w/ the locking differential from a Syncro so equipped. I am not aware of a limited slip diff. available for the Vanagon trans. Perhaps someone one else does.
