Tom, The claps you get from Pep-Boys are the wrong type for the rubber fuel lines - for the very reason you clearly state. They bite into the hose which, in turn, may leak. The Vanagain (www.vanagain.com) kit comes complete with clamps that, if I remember correctly, are made in Europe, and have a rounded edge that will not cut the rubber hose. If you are changing the fuel lines, invest in the Vanagain kit. Ken has researched the clamps and found the ones he supplies to be the best.

Hi, All,

Glad this discussion came up. Leads me to wonder...

I've been using Ideal clamps from Pep-Boys, American made, but they sure bite into the hose.

How tight should the clamps be on the fuel and coolant lines? Barbarian tight, where the rubber seems to squish throught the clamp threads a bit? Or reasonably secure, where it doesn't seem to allow for seepage.

Thanks in advance,

Tom Naylor
