Subject: ?s about new 2.0 installation
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I recently bought an 82 Westy--beautiful, excellent condition, even a/c...only needed an engine. I have the engine sitting on the docks at the trucking company and I was planning to install it this weekend. Although I have a considerable amount of mechanical skill/experience, I have never once turned a wrench on a VW. Some questions I have: 2.0L w/ a/c 1. Is using exhaust wrap tape a good idea on these engines? why or why not? 2. I have been told not to use an aux. external oil cooler. Is this/is this not a good idea? 3. What battery is recommended for either battery(it has dual)? 4. Any special advice regarding oil additives/fuel additives, etc...? 5. what are the ideal temperatures for the cylinder head & oil? I don't necessarily trust previous owner's install job for his aftermarket gauges and I want to be able to test w/ pyrometer. 6. VW tricks, secrets or suggestion when installing the 2.0 greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help Mike Edwards
