The slower you drive, the longer the trip takes (applicable if you're not sightseeing), the more bored you get, the more your attention/concentration slips, the more tired you become, you become more likely to fall asleep...BANG

I don't agree. I try to drive fast (bear conditions permitting). When I do slow trips I can become very sleepy. You concentrate better at higher speeds.

Of course in a van the fuel consumption can rise alarmingly at 70+mph...
