I've got an opportunity to buy a really nice Diesel Westy with a compression problem. The engine problem raises the possiblilty of an engine swap, and I'd really like to stay with the diesel. As much as I'd like, I don't want to incur the expense and complexity involved in a TDI swap, but the VW Industrial 1.9 Turbo, or a 1.9 Turbo from a Quantum sounds just right. I've been unable to get the archives to go today, and Martin J's site seems to be in flux. Has anyone done this swap? Does the 1.9 drop right in, or do mounts need to be modified? Any and all comments appreciated. _________________________________________________________ Bob O'Shaughnessy, Columbus, OH vanagon@columbus.rr.com 99 A3 Jetta TDI 85GL with basic Westy interior 74 Bus (Dad's) 72 Wife, 94 Rabbit, 95 Cat, 96 cat, 98 Kid 11/06/00 Kid! 52 House |
