I did the same. For me, it was one pipe, a section about two feet long. I found a hose that was the correct size to fit the pipe, cutoff the infected area, installed the hose, and a little over a year later, no problems. I did this about 4 years ago. Cut out the rear portion of the metal pipes that were rusted out, replaced with 1 1/4" heater hose. Easy job, no problems, still going strong four years later. Cost: about $8.00 for hose and clamps, plus anti-freeze.
