I believe my stock 1987 antennae base does have a VW part no on it somewhere - it's a black base and black plastic tip (tall, too) on the driver's side. Can't put my Jack antennae ball on it because of the tip. I'm not sure that 85s were the same, however. I don't know what your "stock" 1985 radio would have been since at my dealership in Hayward, California (Humphrey Motors, became Jim Close Motors before going out of business) you could select at least 3 different VW radios to put in your vehicle at the time.
