Is the V belt cog the same as the V belt pulley? And does this mean the later model 90A Vanagon alternator will bolt into an earlier model Vanagon like an 83.5 Water cooled? And if the later model alternator is put in the 83.5 are their any ch-ch-ch-changes needed in the electrical system? Or can a system built for a lower amperage unit handle more amps?

And the final question, when I have to replace my alternator should I just go for the higher amperage 90A alternator from a later model Vanagon-- or is it cost prohibative since I won't be able to turn in a 90A core?

Forgive me my electrical knowledge is rather limited.

TIA Jeff 83.5 Westy LA, CA
