Hi,

Some of you may be interested in these figures.

Last week our family took a trip from the Australia Capital Territory (ACT) in Australia to lower part of Victoria to stay at Point Hicks lighthouse on the edge of Bass straight. The road was a mixture of 2 lane highway driving, mountain driving, and 100kms of Dirt(Yuk!).

I kept a records of my kms/miles to analysis my fuel consumption based on my fuel stops.

Leg 1: Dickson, Canberra ACT -> Cooma NSW Road type between destinations: Monaro Highway with some hills Fuel used: Shell Optimax RON 98 Fuel used (Litres): 12.98 Km's Travelled: 121 L/100Km: 10.73 Fuel used (Gallons):2.85 Miles Travelled :75.63 MPG: 26.51

Leg 2: Cooma NSW-> Point Hicks VIC->Eden NSW Road type between destinations: Snowy Mts Highway/Cann River Hwy/Points Hicks 100kms Dirt, Princes Highway Fuel used: Shell Premium Unleaded RON 91/Shell Optimax RON98 (left over from the first fill. Fuel used (Litres): 53.64 Km's Travelled: 457 L/100Km: 11:74 Fuel used (Gallons) :11.79 Miles Travelled :285.63 MPG: 24.23

Leg 3: Eden NSW-> Belconnen, Canberra ACT Road type between destinations: Princes Highway-> Snowy Mts Highway(Brown Mountain)->Monaro Highway->Canberra Driving Fuel used: Mobil Premium Unleaded RON 91 Fuel used (Litres): 52.92 Km's Travelled: 464 L/100Km: 11.41 Fuel used (Gallons):11.63 Miles Travelled :290.00 MPG: 24.93

Other useful data about the van and trip...

5 Speed, 15" Merc Wheels, engine age around 210,000kms old, Fully loaded 3 Adults, 3 Children, Air Conditioning running as well. The outside temperature on this journey ranged from 30 Deg C to 40 Deg C.

As you can see I am very happy with my fuel consumption, I attribute the better KM's to the Shell Optimax fuel.

NB! I did do over 100 kmh/s per hour on many occasions.

Chris
