With the continual discussions about engine transplants for the much berated Wasserboxer motor which powered T3 Transporters or Vanagons from 1983 to 1992, one often reads about Subaru, Golf, Audi, Corvair and other motors put into the back of the Vanagon. But, has this list ever discussed the so-called "Oxyboxer" motor as an alternative?

A company in Sydney, Australia, (Hell Bug Engineering) has for a number of years been converting 1.9 and 2.1 Wasserboxer motors into Oxyboxers. They machine off the water jackets and fit air-cooled cylinder barrels and cylinder heads to make an air-cooled version of the Vangon's engine. Has anyone been doing this in the USA?
