Ben,

The people in Sydney fit off-set studs (i.e. cut and welded with a bend in them). This would worry me about the Oxyboxer motor.

My own 2.1 litre MV series Wasserboxer has done only 150,000km (about 90,000miles) and after replacing all studs, hoses, water pump, etc at 130,000km I now expect another 200,000km out of it because I have learned how to look after it. Nevertheless, the Wasserboxer takes some getting used to after owning 17 air-cooled Volkswagen previously. But I have increasing faith in it.
