To my '82 Adventurewagen (now departed), I added a thermostatic control to the cab area so I could run the propane, forced-air furnace, located in back, while driving (desirable in an air-cooled VW). This mod worked great.

I also installed a pull-out casette stereo (this was over 10 years ago) with a second "sleeve" in the rear area so I could have the stereo back there, too, when camping. This was before the advent of remote controls.

Finally, I recall adding headlight protectors prior to a trip to Alaska. At the time, the Alcan Highway was merely gravel in places (still might be), and this sort of mod was advised so as not to have to keep replacing headlights along the way.

To my '87 Westfalia, I have installed a CD player complete with remote control, and have replaced the factory speakers with real ones :) Otherwise, the camper is completely stock.
