Buenas tardes, Listees: I hope this email reaches it's mark, as I have good reason to suspect that none of my previous emails for some weeks have been received. I replied to each & every one of you but have had no further word since, even from my Vanagon List housesitters, Steve Shane & Stephanie Endsley, so I hope all's well. My ´85 Westy, with over 220,000 miles on her, continues to purr along with spirit & humor. Knock formica, not a single problem, nor flat tire. Currently I am camped at the foot of a group of well- preserved Aztec pyramids; the principal pyramid is entered by walking over the carved stone tongue of a serpent & into the open jaws of the main ceremonial center. The pyramids are reached by ascending 350 stone steps which wind up the sides of the steep peñas, or steep, rocky cliffs that overlook the colonial era village below. This village, which shall remain nameless (to protect the undiscovered), shares Cuernavaca's weather--much like the Hawaiian Islands, complete with plumeria & flame trees, bannanas, & a profusion of gaudy butterflies. I am camped here in exchange for an occassional english lesson.

Today was market day, which meant I filled my baskets with mounds of juicy ripe Manilla mangos, papayas, pineapple, etc... For about $2.00, one can buy a plump roast chicken to go, complete with a sack of handmade tortillas, fresh salsa, & pickled chillies.

I promise more in-depth reportage upon my return, for I hesitate to invest much time in these emails which may never hit the mark. I hope this one reaches you listees! I look forward to hearing from you & hope I have some luck doing so... Hasta bannan & ciao for now, Phaedra
