Did you say top 10? OK In my 1983.5 Westy full campmobile:

1) Driver's side grab handle (don't know how I got in and out before it. when installing remember there are wires in the A pillar. also added grab handle to sliding door opening. both from passenger bus)

2) Additional interior light over passenger door (like the one over the driver's door/as long as I had to replace the wires I drilled through in the A pillar while installing grab handle might as well add a few more feet of wire and add a light)

3) Retro-fitted later model instrument cluster with tachometer (a tachometer is a must IMHO)

4) Glued a second interior rear view mirror low on windshield so I can see back (mirro is about 3 or 4 inches above dashboard--Stock mirror has very limited rear visability on 1983 Westy because of rear overhead A/C ducts)

5) South African Grill w/ Hella H3s (Nice look and functional)

6) South African Mud Flaps (big mount-in-the-wheel-well type sold by James Cohen Jscohen@sprynet.com to protect from road debris. I'll bet you won't get in touch with James before mid spring. He's a ski instructor.)

7) Glove box opening extensions (actually installed by DPO. Just a few inches of string tied to one end of each of the two rubber glove box door stays so it opens wide and I can see what's in there)

8) Weekender curtain (this clips and snaps in right behind the driver's and passenger seats in 2 seconds when I dont' feel like or need to put up the windshield curtian especially useful when stealth camping)

9) Passenger bus seat belt mechanism cover (a decorative item found in passenger vans to cover the seat belt retracting reel mounts in the Westy to make it pretty too. Also replaced the sliding door panel to one from a passenger bus instead of the Westy white particle board unfinished-looking thing)

10) Fog Light Switch (genuine VW installed in dash and attached to nothing. Makes me think I have fog lights except when it's foggy)

10.5) Cobra CB with controls in handle (stores out of the way when not in use and handy on road trips. Not the most powerful unit but OK)

10.75) Kraco heavy duty winter and mud floor mats (they have to be cut so they don't truely hold 1/2 gallon of water. But still better than the stock carpet mats especially for camping)

To Do list..one day:

Hella H4s (not very imaginative I admit)

Update wheels--probably Carat alloys (those "spoke style" 83 hubcaps have been repaired so may times they creak)

Projektzwo fog lights that attach to lower grill (I already have the switch)

SA leather Vanagon steering wheel
