Just an update on locksmithing cost up here in Minneapolis-Steve said my problem should cost about $15 to fix. Well, one place said $55 to clean the lock, another place said $155, and they would just replace the assembly, and 2 local VW dealers have the whole assembly for $75. I will try dissassmbly and cleaning myself, and if that doesn't work, I will buy a new assembly from the dealer. Thanks Steve and Joel for the advice. Kim
