These are my favorite modifications to my 91 Carat.
1. The .3 cu.ft. captive 8" sub woofer under my drivers seat in the
battery box space, another 8" in a box under the rear seat closest to
the door. 50 watt Planet Audio amp
2. 6" 2 way speakers in the original door location, 4" two speakers in
the stock mount aft. Clairon Pro audio Head unit, 6 Cd Changer beneath
the driver seat
3. VDO Vacuum gauge even has the orange and green marking like the
tachometer, mounted in the brake/seatbelt light area above the headlight
switch. The brake light warning was reposition to the right of the
drivers dash level vent..
4. 5000 lb 2" receiver style trailer hitch flush with the bumper and
hidden behind the bumper.
5. A "captains" chair behind the driver's seat. Special tracks and
modifications allows this seat to slide rear enough to layout into a
comfy single bed while someone else drives, in addition to swiveling 180
degrees when upright to set facing forward if desired. Also when the
double bed is down, pull the drivers seat forward and this again has
room to sleep another person. I'm a touch under 6'2" and love this
setup.
6. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator, 50 Psi and love the throttle.
Mileage is unchanged at 21 hwy. and 19 city.
7. Window tint, I forget the particulars, but the fronts are the lighter
stuff, and the sides are the darker stuff. Got it done in Tampa,
supposed to be the good stuff with carbon black or something, it did
help the interior temps and A/C.
8. 100 watt 4" x 5" Perlux fog lights. These were purchased from a
Peterbuilt dealer. They are common on Semi's, stainless steel buckets,
but I painted them to match the Carat bumpers, a black baffle or louvers
if you prefer, and a second outer glass lens, which cost $4 to replace
when a rock finds you.
9. Rubberqueen Winter front mattes. I cut the drivers around the
accelerator pedal, and use the passengers flipped 180 degrees.
10. 31" x 39" Heavy rubber mat, with the little nubby fingers, which
fits nicely in front of the sliding door and rear seats so the kids can
jump right in.. This thing holds an enormous amount debris without
losing it. I clean it once or twice a season. It weighs at least 20
lbs, probably more, and muffles the resonance of the floor some also.
