The idle stabilization system is really to improve cold engine driveability off idle. A warm engine should idle at the 880 RPM with the idle air motor disconnected. Even though the system is always active, the base engine idle adjustment should be with the normal range with it disconnected. The base engine idle speed is set with the engine warm and the idle system disabled. Idle speed is then manual adjusted by turning the air bypass screw in or out. It wouldn't hurt to disconnect the O2 while doing this and monitoring it. The CO adjustment is done after the idle is correct. Simply turn the allen screw beneath the cover located on the AFM . I target .5 volts. on the O2 at idle What your really adjusting is the air vane position at idle. Give it a try. Then connect the idle stabilization system and see how it behaves on cold start.
