Hello all, I was looking at an '85 today (185K Miles / $1500) but didnt get to drive it, and the kid who was minding the store was utterly clueless about the history of the van. I asked him about any rebuilds, heads replaced, etc...? No clue. The one thing he DID say was that it was "kinda stiff to get in gear" but "didnt pop out of gear". I didnt like the sound of it and offered "Maybe linkage?" Guess what... He didnt know. Jeez. Ive had 70's Type II's, but have never driven a Vanagon. I cant imagine that they are simply "hard to put into gear" or whatever... Are there any "Classic shifter linkage problems" or "Classic stiff tranny problems" Looking for a new schitzomobile to love, Jason Loewenstein (Seattle) |
