Well, not on all cylinders, but she ran for a short while. Compression is 150 +/- 5 all around. I got her to spit around the block and warm up a bit before measuring. Timing is on. (Back right is #1, wires are on 1-4-3-2) She doesn't overheat, and yes, the gauge does read. Low, but it does read temp. However, she wasn't running on all 4. I'd hear a backfire like a loud snap in a can every second or so. So I figured it was time to try 2 miles into town for gas. Didn't make it out of the driveway. She died on idle, backing up. And now I can't get her to even fire. Well, she sorta fires, kinda enough to ease the starters job, but not enough to keep going. Stuck at the bottom of the driveway. Can't even run it up on the starter cause the drive is too steep.
ANY IDEAS?? The clock is ticking.
I'm about to tow her to Toby at West Side VW. I don't think anything serious is wrong with the engine, but I don't have time to mess with it. I've either got to get her running to make the trip, or at least well enough to be driven onto the movers truck. Help.
