The tire mfg's recommended pressure requirements, and the recommended pressures in your door jam are two different animals. Forget what Volkswagen recommends, because these pressures are for the tires that they used on the vehicle when they installed them on the van. And even then, this is a pressure that VW feels that the vehicle will operate best at, and what the hell do they know? (ie; Ford Explorer (28 psi) Firestone 32 to 36 psi) And we all know what happened there. Go strictly by the tire mfg's pressure recommendation, which should be on the sidewall of the tire, right next to he load rating.
