Tony, you typed:

<< I am looking for the vanagon awning that rolls up into an aluminum case on the slider side of the van.. Were these factory? How much and who made the good ones? >>

I've got an A&E (a Dometic company) Catalina roll-up awning on my bus. Sorry, I'm on the road and do not have all the particulars, but I got it mail-order through Camping World. Get a hold of their catalog: www.campingworld.com

I made sure to work every discount they offered when I ordered: $1 shipping, a sale on the awning itself, a discount slip inside the catalog, and joining CW's "President's Club" (a year's subscription) that nets you an additional 10% off.
