Subject: Berg: stock shift lever rebuild Part #s
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

If you are installing the Berg shortshift kit, you may want to replace the nylon bearings and bushings on the shift lever. The part #s are: 823 711 255 bearing shells (need 2) $2.19ea 823 711 643A upper ball half $3.00 251 711 645 lower ball half $5.18 I think these part are the same for all years. The 2 small bushings that go where the shift rod joins to the lever are 171 711 166 (need 2) $0.20ea. These might not fit all years. Of course you might want to check/replace/lube the rest of the bushings along the shift rod now too. The prices shown are fromCamelback VW in Phoenix 1-800-876-5199 (Shawn). Foreign Aide ( my FLAPS in Albuquerque) quoted me $10 for all of the above parts. YMMV.
